Why Wyoming?

Until this April, the only choice to end a pregnancy in Wyoming was through medication abortion, where until 10 weeks into your pregnancy, you take doctor-prescribed medicine and you miscarry at home. At 10 weeks, some women are just finding out they are pregnant. So, in essence, very few women could actually end a pregnancy in Wyoming.

Wellspring Health Access provides abortion care for up to 23.6 weeks. We offer medication abortion to 11.0 weeks and procedural abortions to 23.6. Our clinic also provides a full range of family planning care and general gynecological care as well.

Wyoming and surrounding states make up an “abortion desert,” which are areas with little to no abortion access. Wellspring Health Access brought relief to the gap in access, so we opened our clinic in Casper, Wyoming. The clinic is strategically located so that people in areas of low access states such as Idaho, Utah, western Nebraska, western South Dakota and the southeastern corner of Montana will be able to more easily access health care services.

We offer not only medication abortion but also surgical abortion until 23.6 weeks, so patients can make their own choices on what is most comfortable to them. Along with abortion care, we provide a wide range of family planning, gender affirming, and gynecological services, as well as nurse only visits.

We are a team of dedicated reproductive health care experts. Wellspring Health Access is led by Julie Burkhart, who founded Trust Women and was at the helm for 12 years. Founding members are highly skilled in abortion delivery services, from start-ups to day-to-day operations. We are excited to continue to bring abortion care to underserved areas.
