Job Description

General Summary

Under direct supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and Administrator of Wellspring Health Access, the clinic nurse assists in patient care while in clinic. The Nurse is responsible for observing, documenting, and treating patients, following standing orders, implementing clinic policies and protocols, and performing general clerical duties.

The Staff Nurse adheres to principles of Service Care and the philosophy and mission of WHA in all aspects of job performance.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a current Wyoming license who holds is an RN or LPN.
  • Maintains certification in ACLS.
  • Problem solving skills Able to communicate effectively with patients and all members of the health care team.
  • Prior related experience in abortion care
  • Unequivocally pro-choice.
  • Able to perform a variety of duties and adjust to frequent
  • Able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a health care environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients & all members of the health care team

Physical Requirements

The Clinic Nurse must be able to function effectively under stressful situations in a fast-paced environment. Have physical stamina to meet the requirements of the position, including frequent walking, bending, sitting, standing, and occasional lifting. Knowledge of body mechanics is necessary and uses appropriate safety transfer techniques and body mechanics when moving, transporting, etc., of patients or equipment, sometimes more than 50 pounds.

Also, the clinic nurse understands and accepts the possibility of exposure to environmental elements, internal and external, which may affect the workplace, such as infectious disease, chemical, and/or chemical fumes, dust, noise, physical injury from an out-of-control patient and adverse effects of inclement weather which may occur.

Job Description

Facilities:
  • Responsible for vendor bids and maintenance of vendors.
  • Monitors vendor performance, adjusting when needed.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance and upkeep, calling vendors for repairs when necessary.
  • Ensuring that the facility is secure.

Clinic Operations:
  • Evaluates vendors for office needs. Includes data systems, phone systems, electronic needs, security needs, electronic medical record needs, etc… All areas that will ensure the daily function of the clinic.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with medical protocols and administrative procedures, HIPPA, CLIA, OSHA and state pharmacy regulations. Submit audit data when assigned; ensure WHA meets agency QA requirements.
  • Assist with financial oversight of the clinic. Monitors monthly financial statements, to include insurance, private pay and funding. Monitor, track and report patient visits and services acquired. Manages expenses and staffing to ensure successful operations and financial stability. Accountable for submission of financial deposits and logs.
  • Oversees ordering and accuracy of inventory for medical supplies and administrative supplies. Assures appropriate inventory levels are always maintained and stocked.

Human Relations:
  • Support training, monitoring and evaluating staff members. Ensures staff are adequately trained to provide flow facilitation.
  • Post job descriptions as appropriate.
  • Develop a system for optimal patient flow by providing or assuring flow facilitation on a daily basis that helps meet productivity performance, reduce patient wait times and encourages a positive patient experience.
  • Promote continuous communication between administrative and medical staff which creates and maintains a teamwork approach.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of service and adequate break/lunch times. This includes the authority to make changes in staffing patterns and/or duties to assure optimum flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Staffing the clinic effectively by hiring, coaching and training staff to provide all clinic services per their job descriptions, monitoring and evaluating staff and in their daily performance.
  • Prepare, with the physicians, the Physician Schedule, two quarters in advance. For adequate coverage. 
  • Track and calculate Physician Pay.
  • Responsible for effective utilization of EMR, including oversight of staff usage, training and patient flow. 
  • Responsible for ensuring performance of various computer tasks.
    Ensures daily, weekly and monthly reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner by appropriate staff.

Requirements for Position:
  • B.A. degree required from an accredited four-year university.
    RN or LPN desired.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in reproductive health care desired, with a working knowledge of abortion care.
  • An understanding of contracts, procedures and protocols as they pertain to health care and how those documents impact the longevity of the clinic.
  • The ability to navigate state departments, insurance companies and other credentialing bodies that will have some oversight of the facility and its clinicians. 
  • The ability to think creatively and in a level-headed manner when it comes to problem solving in a medical environment. 
  • The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, whether they are staff or patients.
  • Unequivocal support of abortion rights and for all people to have access to the health care they need.  
  • The ability to work professionally with vendors, suppliers and contractors who will provide goods and services to the medical facility. 
  • Attention to details and deadlines is an absolute must. 
  • An understanding of each staff member’s job and how each position intersects with the success of the facility. 
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate reports accurately so that those reports to governing bodies reflect the work of the clinic correctly.


Compensation is negotiable and is based upon education and experience.

Benefits package includes paid time off, an employee 401K plan, medical, dental and vision benefits when they become available. Some occasional travel is required for conferences and meetings.

Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Clinic Administrator, the job of the Patient Coordinator carries great responsibility as it entails overseeing the department that has first contact with the patient. The main responsibility of the Patient Coordinator is to support a non-biased, welcoming atmosphere and facility for patients seeking reproductive health care, namely abortion. The goal of Wellspring Health Access is
to provide high quality care in a friendly and compassionate manner.

Job Duties:

  • The Patient Coordinator greets each patient warmly, instructing patients on completing required paperwork, triaging immediate issues before they become problems, acting as the point person between support people/family and staff, and performing general clerical duties.
  • The Patient Coordinator serves as an educator, advocate and always assists in patients’ care and emotional well-being while in the clinic.
  • Education of and advocacy of all inquiries by potential patients is not limited to preparing patients for their appointment but includes reproductive education. Advocacy includes making sure patients are receiving the best care possible at WHA, including adequate funding throug national, state and local funds.
  • The Patient Coordinator will be responsible for leading by example and maintaining a high level of quality consultation services over the phone and in person.
  • The Patient Coordinator will work with the staff and management team for optimal performance, efficiency, and support and leadership for staff, patients, and all who walk through WHA’s doors.
  • The Coordinator will maintain a reception area front desk that is well organized, attentive to detail, and meets the standard of patient care.

  • Fill in for other staff as needed
  • Open/Close clinic

  • Schedule appointments appropriately via electronic medical records
  • Check patients in upon their arrival, ensure their needs are met upon their departure
  • Prepare daily Price Sheet for each clinic
  • Collect payments
  • Prepare cash for deposit with Clinic Administrator
  • Prepare charts for patients
  • Work with Revtell when necessary to contact insurance companies regarding patient coverage for services
  • Provide backup for Patient Consultation and Lab, which will be conducted in a private exam room
  • Provide patient funding coordination and any funding applications
  • Submit invoices to funds on a monthly basis and track payments
  • Assist with clinic vendors as requested
  • Travel occasionally for conferences and meetings
  • Assist with training other administrative employees
  • Organize/Submit vital statistics on a 20-day rolling basis to the Wyoming Department of Health and Environment
